As summer transitions to autumn, there are mornings when a Vanilla Bean Iced Coffee wins out over a steaming cup of Joe. Sweet and decadent, it starts or ends the day on a bright note!
A Homemade Iced Coffee is a terrific way to save money, plus this recipe is absolutely delicious!
Homemade Iced Coffee is the best way to start the morning on a hot summer day.
A touch of sugar, some half and half, and vanilla makes for a smooth tasty beverage.
It’s a delicious treat for Sunday brunch!
The heady aroma of coffee brewing conjures up memories of my childhood. My dad’s first duty of the day was to make a pot of coffee. Like my father, I prefer mine black unless my sweet tooth tells me otherwise. That’s when I make and chill a pot of coffee the night before, add some sugar, vanilla extract, and a vanilla bean. That makes quick work of this Homemade Iced Coffee recipe and streamlines my delicious indulgence in the morning. I’m sharing a handy new Folgers’ product today that will also speed up your coffee ritual.
Ingredient Notes
Coffee – Use your favorite brand, brewed.
Kitchen Staples – Coffee (your favorite brand), Sugar to taste
Vanilla Bean – Slice and scrape out seeds to get maximum flavor.
Vanilla Extract – Use real vanilla, not artificially flavored, for the best results. I use the Nielsen-Massey brand.
Half and Half – Lighter than heavy cream, it’s made with equal parts cream and milk, it has 10-12% milkfat.
Garnishes of Choice – Cocoa powder, sweetened whipped cream, caramel sauce, etc.
Brighten Your Morning with a Homemade Iced Coffee
Folgers was the brand that was always next to the coffeepot in my childhood kitchen. The iconic red can was part my parents’ morning ritual. Well, things have come a long way. Folgers has just come out with a new, convenient product, Perfect Measures. Now available in Kansas City, St. Louis, and right here in Indianapolis, the coffee is compressed into a neat and tidy disc. Each disc equals one scoop of ground coffee, ensuring a marvelous pot of coffee every morning! No accidental goofs when losing count while measuring out coffee the old fashioned way. Instead, drop these Perfect Measure tabs into your filter and brew away. Being bleary-eyed in the morning, I’m loving this new foolproof innovation.
Indianapolis Coffee Statistics
Did you know today is National Coffee Day? While writing this post, I learned that 74% of those polled in Indianapolis required a cup of coffee to kick off their day. In comparison, 40% felt eating breakfast and 39% felt that waking up on time were needed to begin the day on the right foot! One study revealed that nearly one in 10 coffee drinkers found it difficult to measure coffee properly in order to have that perfect cup. Folgers Measures is catering to you. No measuring errors result in that fabulous cup of Joe that Hoosiers and coffee drinkers across the states yearn for every morning. Indy friends, look for this new product around town!!

Iced coffee with a double dose of vanilla and whipped cream topping to brighten your day!
5.0 Stars (1 Review)
Ingredients
16 ounces of coffee brewed using Folgers Perfect Measures, Breakfast Blend or your favorite Folgers Measures variety
¼-½ cup sugar (I love my iced coffee sweet so used the larger measurement)
1 vanilla bean
1 teaspoon vanilla
Half and half, to taste
Sweetened whipped cream
Cocoa powder, optional
Caramel sauce, optional
Instructions
Brew a pot of coffee using Folgers Perfect Measures tabs. Pour 16 ounces of hot coffee into a large Pyrex measuring cup or heatproof bowl.
Whisk in sugar and vanilla. Split the vanilla bean and scrape the seeds into the coffee. Add the pod to the coffee.
Whisk again until the sugar is dissolved. Refrigerate until cold.
To serve, fill your mug about ¾ full with cold coffee. Add ice cubes. Whisk in half and half to taste; use a tablespoon or so.
Top with sweetened whipped cream. Dust with cocoa powder and a drizzle of caramel, if desired.
Notes
Use extra coffee to make coffee ice cubes. This ensures your iced coffee won't get diluted when you add ice. Add sugar to taste. Feel free to leave it black if that's your preference. Toppings can include cocoa powder, a drizzle of caramel or even mini chocolate chips.

Kitchen Tip:
To avoid diluting your iced coffee drinks, why not use leftover coffee to make ice cubes. As they melt, they will not water down your beverage!

Finally, no more miscounted scoops! This is one of the best inventions ever and this will definitely save me and countless others from wasting and ruining a pot of coffee. I also have to admit that I’ve never had iced coffee. Strange, I know.
Liz – this vanilla bean iced coffee is calling my name something fierce. I love how the coffee is pre-measured because whenever I make coffee, it tends to turn to the side of “cop coffee” which is never pretty. Espresso – I got skills but coffee – I need help. I need to get some Folgers immediately!
I don’t drink a lot of coffee, but I know that I would like this iced coffee. It looks yummy. My mom alway had Folgers in the house when I was growing up and she still drinks Folger now.
What a genius idea… all of the convenience of pre-measured coffee, but none of the waste of the plastic pods (which is really the only reason I refuse to buy one of those coffee pod machines).
The cool weather has me craving hot coffee drinks again, but I think I could make an exception for this delicious iced coffee. Vanilla anything is always a hit in my books! 🙂
